Student Research in the Biosciences: "Why?" and "How?"
Wednesday 22nd October 2008
University of Nottingham

In autumn 2008 the Centre for Bioscience will publish a learning and teaching practice guide on final year projects in the biosciences, the third in our Teaching Bioscience: Enhancing Learning series. During the morning delegates will have the opportunity to hear from its author, Martin Luck (University of Nottingham) and several bioscience case study contributors. The afternoon will cover broader aspects of final year projects and student research. Attendees are encouraged to offer contributions for the practice 'swapshop'. There is no charge for attendance but pre-registration is required.

Savoy Place, London
Monday 27 - Tuesday 28 October 2008

This international conference will seek to provide some of the answers and encourage knowledge exchange between policy makers, academic researchers, industry, media and NGO representatives and citizens’ groups.

Showcasing research evidence from across the ESRC genomics network, this conference will examine the issues from a broad range of perspectives. It will reflect on many applications of genomics research - from pharmaceuticals to fuel - and consider the implications of the life sciences for policy and practice - from innovation and global competitiveness to what this might mean for our personal identity and the ethics of genomics research.
