Dear Class,

You will be aware that you the Biological strand of the MRes in Bioinformatics starts on Monday with lectures and labs on Sequence Analysis. There will be a lecture at 9.30m followed by a lab lasting the rest of the day (with breaks and a another lecture at 2pm). This will be the pattern for all the sessions in this section.

To ensure that we get off to a good start with no delays due to problems with computer accounts I shall be holding a preliminary session at which you will be assigned a computer, check that you can login to the FBLS network, check that you can login to a unix account I have set up for you - and change your password, and have your PC set up with administrator privileges allowing you to install appropriate versions of browsers, plugins and bioinformatics software.

The session will start at 11 am on Friday this week and will be held in the Bioinformatics Laboratories in the Joseph Black Building - B3-08. It is likely to last at least an hour. I expect everyone to attend.
